Sundaram Finance IT arm targets Jordan market

Chennai-based Sundaram Infotech Solutions Ltd (SISL), the IT arm of Sundaram Finance Ltd, has announced that it has struck a marketing partnership with Jordan-based Business Soft to target the Jordan market with the Axapta ERP solution. The partnership will focus primarily on the Financial Services and Manufacturing verticals.

SISL is one of the largest partners of Axapta, the ERP solution from Microsoft. Axapta comprises modules addressing the total and integrated information needs of an enterprise. Microsoft ERP automates and helps improve financial and customer relationship as well as supply chain management.

As part of the partnership, Sundaram Infotech will provide the technology solutions and support delivery, both on site and off shore from its Chennai software development facility, while Business Soft will handle the sales and account management with the customers in Jordan.

SAP making a play for on-demand e-tail CRM?

Business software giant SAP has acquired Praxis Software Solutions as it attempts to weave on-demand applications into its offerings.

Technology from Praxis will be incorporated into SAP Business One, a business management product aimed at small and medium-sized companies, to help them set up online stores and deploy customer relationship management software via the internet.

The two key elements that SAP is gaining from its long-time partner are Praxis' NetPoint Commerce and NetPoint Focus applications. The first is an ecommerce package that offers customisable shopping-cart and customer support functions, designed to handle data access for both business-to-business and business-to-consumer needs on a single website. It integrates pricing and inventory data originated from the SAP Business One System.


Kodak to cut ties with Olympics after over 100 year relationship

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Photography icon Eastman Kodak Co. said Friday it is ending its role as the official imaging sponsor of the Olympics after next summer's games in Beijing.

The company, which is undergoing an arduous digital overhaul, cited a shift in marketing tactics for halting a relationship that dates back to the first modern games in Athens in 1896 when it ran advertisements in the program.

"As we complete the transformation of Kodak, it makes sense for us to take a new direction," said Elizabeth Noonan, Kodak's director of brand management.

"Digital technology changes everything, including the way we market our products and services. Our new business strategy requires us to reassess our marketing tactics as well, and adapt them to changing market conditions and evolving customer behavior."

Kodak is one of 12 sponsors in "The Olympic Program," the top tier of business corporations that each spend tens of millions of dollars for rights to market the Olympic logo.
